Special Use Permits

Many activities and events that take place on national forest lands are considered special uses and require a permit from the Forest Service. This page provides more information on specific types of permits.

 

Outfitter Guide

If you plan to provide outfitted and guided activities such as guiding hunts, rides, or hikes or delivery of goods or services such as RVs, camping equipment, boats, etc you need a permit. Request a New Permit or Renew an Expiring One!

Recreation Events

Recreation events require a permit. Events including, but not limited to, OHV Rides and rallies, tournaments, poker runs, or any other event for which you are posting advertisement require a permit prior to advertising.

Research Activities

Research activities on lands managed by the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests may require a special use permit.

Non-Commercial Group Use Events

Non-commercial gatherings such as family reunions, weddings, friends groups, scouting outings, and other large non-commercial events often require a permit.  Find out what qualifies as a non-commercial permit!
