Rim Lake Vista Trail 622

This trail meanders along the Mogollon Rim for 4.3 miles from The Rim Top Trailhead to Mogollon Campground and Trailhead.  Approximately 2 1/2 miles of this trail are paved from just west of Military Sinkhole to Mogollon Campground. This trail provides spectacular views from the edge of the Mogollon Rim. Hikers enjoy a path through a pine and oak forest that provides interesting rock outcroppings along the way.

General Information

  • The Mogollon Rim is the second most lightning struck area in the world. Take precautions!
  • Get out of the open and off the rim during thunderstorms.
  • Lightning storms are most common during July and August.

The main trailhead is located just west of State Highway 260 along Forest Road 300. Forest Road 300 is located approximately 26 miles west of Heber, immediately across from the Rim Visitor Center.

Biking - Mountain Info

Although biking is allowed on this trail, the trail closely follows the edge of the Mogollon Rim, which is a vertical drop of 150 feet or more in many areas.  Extreme caution should be exercised when riding this trail or bringing inexperienced bicyclists on this trail.
