Situation: Mountainair NM, May 8, 2025: Fire crews responded yesterday afternoon to the South Peak fire but were unable to locate the smoke as the fire area received precipitation. It is expected that the rainfall extinguished the fire but crews will continue monitoring the area in the event that the smoke reemerges. This will be the final update for this fire unless there is a change in the fire situation.
