SPECIAL ORDER
WILDERNESS USE RESTRICTION
INTERMOUNTAIN REGION

Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50 (a) and (b), the following acts are prohibited within National Forest Wildernesses of the Intermountain Region, U.S. Forest Service:

Entering or being in a National Forest System Wilderness when in possession of or for the purpose of placement of salt for attracting wildlife. 36 CFR 261.57(a)

Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50 (e), the following persons may possess salt for legitimate purposes:

  1. Persons with, and in compliance with, a permit and/or Operating Plan that states that possession and/or use of salt is approved by the appropriate Forest officer.

     

  2. Persons with salt used for culinary purposes within camps or residences or with salt packaged and enroute to or from camps or residences.

     

  3. Persons providing salt to pack and saddle stock in approved corrals, or other approved livestock feeding locations in the immediate vicinity of a camp.

Area Described:

All areas of Congressionally designated Wilderness administered by the USDA Forest Service Intermountain Region.
