Upper Gros Ventre Wildlife Habitat Enhancement
To utilize prescribed burning for the regeneration of aspen stands, reinvigoration of forb communities, and the maintenance of grassland meadows in year-round habitat, winter range, and migration routes for a variety of big game species. Ignition would occur with helitorch and hand crews. Aviation (helicopter with bucket) and hand crews would also be used to hold the fire to the identified units. Burning would most likely occur in the fall. Small portions of some units are within inventoried roadless area, and some small diameter trees may be cut to enhance control, but no roads would be created.
