Hoback Guard Station Cabin
Hoback Guard Station beckons guests who want a scenic backcountry experience with the convenience of electricity and running water. The guard station allows 6 people, with 3 sets of bunkbeds. Potable water is available during mid-June to mid-September (dates may vary due to weather). The station has an indoor bathroom (depending on water availability and weather). Water and power are never guaranteed.
Access to the cabin is by combination locks at the gate and cabin. The combinations are available after paid reservation is made. You will receive an email. Contact number for the office is 307-276-5800. Horse corrals are available at the guard station. Check in is at 2:00 pm and check out time is at 10 am.
The kitchen is equipped with an electric stove, refrigerator, a variety of cookware and utensils, and a sink. The cabin has electric heat. Pets and stock are allowed at the GS. Livestock may be kept in the corral behind the bunkhouse. If you bring hay it must be certified weed free. No smoking is allowed in the bunkhouse, and all trash must be taken with you when you leave.
Natural Features:
Willows and pines provide sparse shade, and grasses and summer wildflowers are abundant. A creek runs alongside the guard station, which sits at an elevation of 6,600 feet. The guard station sits below Monument Ridge and offers spectacular views of the Gros Ventre Mountain Range.
Recreation:
Hiking, biking and horseback riding trails crisscross the surrounding mountains, leading visitors to impressive scenery like Cliff Creek Falls, Shoal Creek Falls, and the historic Monument Ridge Lookout. Nearby Cliff Creek and the Hoback River provide excellent opportunities for fishing. Additionally, the guard station is just minutes away from the Raspberry Ridge, Jack Creek, and Fisherman Creek ATV trails.
Snake River Canyon begins just 15 miles west, with excellent rafting, kayaking, fishing and scenery.

Popular Jackson, Wyoming is 33 miles away, with restaurants, groceries, galleries, and ski resorts with both winter and summer activities. Grand Teton National Park is just beyond Jackson, with hiking, fishing, boating, canoeing, kayaking and breathtaking scenery.

Directions
From the Town of Daniel, Wyoming head north on United States Highway 189 (US 189) for approximately 2 miles until you reach the junction of US 189 and US 191. Turn left at the junction onto US 191/189. Follow US 191/189 for approximately 33 miles. The entrance to the Hoback Guard Station is on the left side of the highway approximately 1 mile beyond the town of Bondurant. Please note: This site must be reserved on www.recreation.gov and needs a key to pass through the gate. Key should be retrieved from the Big Piney District Office.
