Garnet Fire Closure
Pursuant to 16 U.S.C. § 551 and 36 C.F.R. § 261.50(a) and (b), and to provide for public safety, the following acts are prohibited within the Sierra National Forest. This Order is effective from October 7, 2025, through October 20, 2025.
1. Going into or being upon National Forest System lands within the Garnet Fire Closure Area, as shown on Exhibit A and described in Exhibit B. 36 C.F.R. § 261.52(e).
2. Being on any National Forest System roads within the Garnet Fire Closure Area, as shown on Exhibit A and described in Exhibit B. 36 C.F.R. § 261.54(e).
3. Being on any National Forest System trails within the Garnet Fire Closure Area, as shown on Exhibit A and described in Exhibit B. 36 C.F.R. § 261.55(a).
Pursuant to 36 C.F.R. § 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:
1. Any Federal, State, or local officer or member of an organized rescue or firefighting force in the performance of an official duty.
2. Persons with a Forest Service Permit No. FS-7700-48 (Permit for Use of Roads, Trails, or Areas Restricted by Regulation or Order), specifically exempting them from this Order.
3. Employees and contractors of utility companies with special use authorization to the extent necessary to conduct operations and maintenance, vegetation management, and timber work, provided the work activity is within acceptable Project Activity Levels and within the coordination of the Incident Command Team.
These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions contained in 36 C.F.R. Part 261, Subpart A.
A violation of these prohibitions is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than six months, or both. 16 U.S.C. § 551 and 18 U.S.C. §§ 3559, 3571, and 3581.

The boundary of the Garnet Fire Closure begins at the intersection of Forest Road No. 11S12 and Forest Road No. 12S01 at the Kings River Bailey bridge, then continues north along the west side of Forest Road No. 11S12 to its intersection with Forest Service Road No. 11S02, then continues west along the south side of Forest Service Road No. 11S02 to its intersection with Forest Service Road No. 10S69, then continues north along the west side of Forest Road No. 10S69 to its intersection with Forest Road No. 11S61, then continues north along the west side of Forest Road No. 11S61 to its intersection with Forest Road No. 10S69, then continues north along the west side of Forest Road No. 10S69 to its intersection with Dinkey Creek Road, then continues northeast along the east side of Dinkey Creek Road to its intersection with Forest Road No. 11S40 (McKinley Grove Road), then continues east along the south side of 11S40 to its intersection with Forest Road No. 10S36, the continues north along the east side of Fore
