Bonaparte #306

Bonaparte Trail #306 has two trail starts. It is highly recommended that visitors park at the first trailhead. The first is along road 33-300 just before you cross Myers Creek. Walk up Forest Service Road 33-300 just across the creek and access the trail. The trail follows the creek off and on for about 1 mile, then ties back onto Forest Service Road 33-300. This is the start point for the second trail.

This is an 5.7 mile round trip more difficult hiking, horseback, and motorcycle trail that travels south through a dense lodgepole pine stand on its climb to the Bonaparte Lookout with a 2,542 ft. elevation increase. The trail breaks out of the dense conifers into a more open subalpine terrain. From here the trail heads south through and along an old logging unit to the ridge. About 1 mile up the trail you come to the junction with the Southside Trail #308 and a short trail to the lookout spring. Continuing up the trail about 1 mile from the lookout spring you will come to the junction with Antoine Trail #304. Continue up the trail to Bonaparte Lookout. This is the oldest lookout in Okanogan County and is operational. It affords 360 degree panoramic views of the surrounding area. There is an opportunity for a loop hike or ride around Bonaparte Mountain but it is difficult, especially for motorcycles.

Current Conditions
The trail to the lookout is snowed in until the end of June.
