Carl's Lake

Carl's Lake is a 20.2-acre secluded, shallow lake located 5.5 miles from Ione, Washington.

There is no real boat launch. It's a muddy opening near the parking to put non-motorized boats in.

General Information

Formally known as Brown's Lake, Carl's Lake is 3,150 feet in elevation. With closed roads, access is difficult. The boat launch area is located on the southeast corner of the lake and is a muddy opening. According to Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, rainbow trout fry and catchable plants produce yearlings 9-11 inches and carryovers up to 14+ inches. Two-pole fishing is allowed, and shoreline access is spotty. Fishing methods include: Fly, spin, and bait.  

Wheeled, motorized cross-country travel is closed to protect natural resources. There are two gates off FSR 9400500 to help mitigate motorized access, making getting into the lake walk-in only.

Washington state fishing license required. See Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife at http://wdfw.wa.gov/ for more information. The Carl's Lake area is closed to wheeled, motorized cross-country travel. Please stay on roads and trails shown on the forests current year motor vehicle use map.

Directions

From Ione, WA: Head west on Main St towards S 2nd Ave. Turn left at the 1st cross street onto WA-31 S/S 2nd Ave. Turn right onto WA-20 W. Turn left onto NF-510.

From Colville, WA: Head north on N Maple St toward E 2nd Ave for 0.1 mile. Turn right at the 2nd cross street onto WA-20 E/E 3rd Ave, continue to follow WA-20 E for 31.3 miles. Turn right onto Forest Service Road (FSR) 9400500. Continue onto FSR 500 through two locked gates. Take a right on FSR 94005071 continue to the lake.
