Tam-A-Lau Trailhead

This trailhead is located next to the camping area at Cove Palisades State Park and gives access to the Tam-A-Lau Trail (#856).  The trail is fairly easy and offers great views of the park, which includes Lake Billy Chinook located at the confluence of the Deschutes River, Metolius River and Crooked River.

Getting There

Directions

From Madras, Oregon: 

Travel southwest on Culver Highway for approximately 7.2 miles.

Turn right onto SW Gem Lane and follow for approximately 1.8 miles.

Gem Lane becomes Frazier Drive.

Turn right onto Forest Service Road 63 (Jordan Road).

Stay on Forest Service Road 63 for approximately 5.8 miles. 

Enter the Cove Palisades State Park and proceed to the Deschutes River Campground.

The trailhead is located in the "B" Campground Loop near the pet exercise area.

Parking

Parking is available in the parking lot, and can accommodate a variety of vehicle sizes.
