Mt. Horrid and The Great Cliff

The Great Cliff via Long Trail; From Brandon Gap, follow the Long Trail north for 0.4 miles, to a blue blazed spur trail that leads 0.1 miles up a set of rock steps out to the Great Cliff. The trail is quite steep, but the excellent view at the top makes the trip worthwhile. From March to August of some years, the cliffs are closed to protect nesting Peregrine falcons. Watch for closure posters.

Mt. Horrid Overlook: Mt. Horrid Overlook is located on the east side of Brandon Gap, overlooking a beaver pond and the cliffs on the side of Mt. Horrid. The beaver pond is a good place to search for wildlife, such as moose and beaver, while the cliffs are at times a home for nesting Peregrine falcons. Please practice Leave No Trace ethics, such as carry out what you carry in.
