SUPPLEMENTAL DRAFT ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT(March 2000)
The Supplemental Draft Environmental Impact Statement (Supplemental Draft EIS), which outlines three management alternatives for 63 million acres of public land in eastern Oregon and Washington, Idaho and western Montana, is available.  The Supplemental Draft EIS supplements the Eastside and Upper Columbia River Basin Draft EISs released in June 1997.

DRAFT ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENTS (May 1997)
As a result of direction provided by President Clinton in July 1993, the USDA Forest Service and USDI Bureau of Land Management prepared two draft Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) outlining strategies for ecosystem-based management within the Columbia River Basin. The Project's geographic area for the two draft EISs encompassed more than 240 million acres in the interior Columbia Basin, Upper Klamath Basin, and portions of the Great Basin. The Project responded to several critical broadscale issues including, but not limited to, forest and rangeland health, listing of Snake River salmon and other plant and animal species pursuant to the Endangered Species Act, potential listing of steelhead trout and bull trout as threatened or endangered, species associated with old forest structure, economies or rural communities, and treaty and trust responsibilities to American Indian Tribes.

Considering All Things: Summary of the Draft Environmental Impact Statements (May 1997) (approximately 60 pages) This is a reader's guide to the Draft Environmental Impact Statements. It provides a brief discussion about the purpose of the project, ecological integrity, alternative development, environmental consequences, and implementation.

Economic and Social Conditions of Communities (February 1998) The Interior Columbia Basin Ecosystem Management Project completed and released a report on the economic and social conditions of several hundred communities in the Pacific Northwest. The report contains an analysis of the economic and social conditions of communities in a 144 million acre region addressed in the Draft Environmental Impact Statements. The analysis provides additional data on economic and social conditions and impacts based on the management alternatives presented in the Draft EISs and standardized industry category data, such as agriculture, wood products manufacturing, and mining.

"This report has been published in response to the need identified by the Eastside Coalition of Counties and in the 1998 Interior Appropriations Bill for a more complete characterization of communities and effects," said Martha Hahn, Chairperson of the Project's Executive Steering Committee. "In order to get a more complete picture of these communities, it was necessary to look at them at the community level in addition to the basin-wide level portrayed in the Project's Scientific Assessment and Draft EISs."
