Regional Ecosystem Office (REO) - Northwest Forest Plan
Governance & Contacts
The NW Forest Plan is governed by the Regional Interagency Executive Committee (RIEC) with support from agency personnel appointed to the Senior Managers Group and Regional Ecosystem Office staff.
Regional Interagency Executive Committee (RIEC)
The RIEC serves as the senior regional entity to assure the prompt, coordinated, and successful implementation of the Plan at the regional level. The RIEC is composed of regional directors from the various federal management, regulatory, and research agencies involved in land and water management in northern California, western Oregon, and western Washington. These include:

- Bureau of Land Management (USDI)
- Bureau of Indian Affairs (USDI)
- Environmental Protection Agency
- Fish & Wildlife Service (USDI)
- Forest Service, Region 6 (OR/WA) (USDA)
- Forest Service, Pacific Northwest Research Station (USDA)
- Forest Service, Region 5 (CA) (USDA)
- Forest Service, Pacific Southwest Research Station (USDA)
- Geological Survey, Western Research Region (USDI)
- National Marine Fisheries Service (NOAA), Northwest Region
- National Park Service (USDI)

The Memorandum of Understanding between federal agencies describes how they will maintain an interagency framework for cooperative planning, improved decision making, and coordinated implementation. It also seeks to improve coordination, and collaboration with state, tribal, and local governments as they seek to implement management approaches that support or complement federal agency goals within that range.
Most meetings are held in the Portland, Oregon metropolitan area. Attendance is typically limited to RIEC committee members or their alternates, Regional Ecosystem Office staff, invited agency staff specialists, and presenters. Senior Managers Group
An interagency Senior Managers Group (SMG) meets regularly to support the RIEC in the implementation of strategies to support the NWFP.
Regional Ecosystem Office
The Regional Ecosystem Office (REO) provides staff work and coordination to facilitate Regional Interagency Executive Committee (RIEC) decision making and interagency issue resolution. The REO is a virtual office with representatives providing support from their home offices. These REO representatives are the best contacts for information on the NWFP:
