| Description: | Caption reads: "Stand of small poles on Irons Creek. Man measuring tree 5 inches d.b.h., 32 years old, and 32 feet high. This stand is typical of many on the Cold Springs District, Ouachita National Forest, but scarce on Irons Creek. This patch covers only about 1/10 acre. Such stands large enough for thinning plots have not been found on Irons Creek." Plate #15 in W.G. Wahlenberg, "Report on a trip for the tentative location of an experimental forest within the Ouachita National Forest, Arkansas." Unpublished USFS report dated April 25, 1931, on file with SRS. |
