| Description: | Russell R. Reynolds showing several men (Custer Ross, unidentified, Reynolds) a pine cut as a part of the 25th annual harvest of the Crossett EF's "Poor" Farm Forestry Forty. This loblolly pine was 24 inches in DBH and contained 578 board feet of lumber. Tree had been seriously suppressed when young, and had a fire scar at its base, but grew well for 50 years after release. |

| Description: | Even though the Crossett Experimental Forest is primarily known for its contributions to the study of naturally regenerated southern pine forests, it did play an important role in parts of the early tree improvement programs in the southeastern US. In this picture, Hoy C. Grigsby scales a ladder to the crown of one of the best pine trees found on the Crossett Experimental Forest. |
