Pine Lake Recreation Area


Area Status: Open

This campground is located along the west shore of one of the largest lakes within the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. The 1,667-acre Pine Lake is a favorite of anglers. If you are looking for northern pike, bass, walleye, or panfish, this is the place! The area features 12 wooded campsites and a picnic area. There is a paved access road, toilet facilities and a paved boat landing.

Fees: Individual campsite fee is $15, or $7.50 with the use of an Interagency pass (access or senior). The interagency pass applies only to the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass holder, not to any additional fees or campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass holder's party. There is a $5 recreation use fee for the boat landing. This does not apply to registered campers. The Forest also has an annual pass available for $30. Passes: The USDA Forest Service honors all four Interagency Recreation Passes that may be applied at National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation and U.S. Fish and Wildlife sites charging recreation use fees.

Directions:

• From the intersection of Highway 32 and FR 2186 just south of Hiles, drive west on FR 2186 for 0.5 mile to FR 2185. Turn left onto FR 2185 and drive 1.3 miles to the campground entrance.

Activities

Campground Camping

Twelve wooded campsites that include fire rings, a vault toilet and a hand pump for well water. 

Lake and Pond Fishing

Pine Lake is a 1673-acre lake located in Forest County. It has a maximum depth of 15 feet.  Fish include panfish, largemouth and smallmouth bass, northern pike and walleye. There is a boat landing that provides access to the lake. There is a $5 recreation use fee for the boat landing. This does not apply to registered campers. Ice Fishing

Ice fishing is also popular here and the boat landing and parking area are plowed in winter through a partnership.

Picnicking

A nice picnic area is available at Pine Lake.

Boating - Motorized

There is a paved boat ramp at Pine Lake with a boat dock.

Boating - Non-Motorized

Canoeing, kayaking, and paddling are some of the popular non-motorized water activities on Pine Lake. There is a boat landing at Pine Lake Campground.

Swimming

Enjoy the beautiful sandy beach at Pine Lake, which is great for swimming and snorkeling.

Tubing
