Responsibilities

Forest Service Nursery Managers are responsible for care of stock grown, or stored, at their nurseries until the stock is delivered to the customer. The Nursery Manager and Forest Supervisors shall cooperate in arranging for shipment and delivery of seedlings. Such arrangements include:

• Time of delivery.
• Place of delivery.
• Method of delivery.
• Persons responsible for receipt at the place of delivery.

The Forest Supervisor of the receiving Forest assumes responsibility for seedling care upon delivery. Receiving units are responsible for paying for all stock originally requested that meets the minimum quality standards ordered, assuming the standards and volume were grown as ordered and no other adjustments have been made before delivery. Receiving units are usually responsible for shipping costs.
