Passes and Permits

Please check in with each National Forests of the Trail for information on local recreation passes and permits. If you plan on hiking or horseback riding 500 or more miles along the PCT in a single, continuous trip, the Pacific Crest Trail Association can issue you an interagency PCT Long-distance Permit.

National Forests and third parties such as private businesses and organizations offer an additional option to purchase a local pass; search recreation passes and permits site to find a location.

If you plan on hiking or horseback riding 500 or more miles along the PCT in a single, continuous trip, a PCT Long-distance Permit allows you to travel and camp along the PCT.
