Winter Information
The Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, in partnership with Washington State Parks will operate a new Sno-Park at the Franklin Falls trailhead/parking lot. The facility will provide parking for 100 vehicles, a restroom, space for snow play, and a marked snowshoe route to Franklin Falls. For more information, please visit Washington State Park's website. View a map for winter parking and access.
The mountain environment along I-90 and beyond the marked snowshoe route to Franklin Falls is dynamic and hazardous, with avalanche terrain, unmarked cliffs, unsafe winter creek crossings, snow immersion and suffocation risks, and other mountain hazards. Do not attempt to access the Denny Creek Trail or enter the Franklin Falls Basin, as both areas present significant avalanche risks.
Before traveling to Franklin Falls, check road conditions at Washington Department of Transportation website. Chains are required for winter access to Franklin Falls via I-90. Be prepared for extreme weather conditions.
The Franklin Falls Sno-Park may be closed at the junction of NF 9034 and NF 58 if conditions become unsafe or if the parking lot reaches capacity. Roadside parking between National Forest Road 58 and the Franklin Falls parking lot is prohibited. Overnight parking is also not allowed, and a valid Washington State Sno-Park Pass is required to access Franklin Falls.
Please stay safe and enjoy your public lands respectfully!
