Town of Iditarod, Town of Flat, Winner Creek Trail

Early 1900's
The Iditarod National Historic Trail commemorates a 2,300-mile system of winter trails that initially connected ancient Alaska Native villages, later opened up Alaska for the last great American gold rush, and now plays a vital role for travel and recreation in modern day Alaska. This is the only National Historic Trail in Alaska and the only winter National Historic Trail in the system.
