Agate Falls

Watersfalls at Agate

These scenic waterfalls are nestled under a railroad trestle, adding historical interest to the already picturesque falls. The trail to the falls is not long but is moderately difficult in grade. The parking area and hiking trail are maintained by Michigan DOT. While the waterfalls are not on National Forest Lands, they are almost completely surrounded by Ottawa National Forest. The parking area is generally maintained May through October.

Directions:

From Bruce Crossing take M28 east for 7 miles where the parking area will be located on the right. From Trout Creek take M28 west for 4 miles where the parking area will be located on the left.

Day Hiking

This short hike to the waterfall is paved and open year-round even if the parking area is closed, however the trail is not maintained in the winter. This hike is not very long but has a moderately difficult grade. It has a viewing platform at the end.
