Spruce Beetle Epidemic and Aspen Decline Management Response

The GMUG contains approximately 223,000 cumulative acres of spruce beetle mortality and 229,000 acres of affected aspen from the past few decades, which corresponds to approximately 30% of the spruce-fir and aspen vegetation on the GMUG.

Location Summary

A maximum of 120,000 acres of commercial and noncommercial treatments are proposed within defined opportunity areas; these areas range in size from 426,000-718,000 acres by action alternative.
