There are over 260 miles of trails available for hiking on the Hoosier. In addition, hikers can go cross-country almost anywhere on the national forest. Please use a map and verify that you are on national forest land since our boundaries are not clearly marked and much of our ownership is interspersed with private lands. For the Indiana Bicentennial, consider the Hoosier Hikers Council Bicentennial Hikers Challenge. Many of the Hoosier National Forest trails are part of the challenge. To celebrate Indiana’s 200th year as a state, the Hoosier Hikers Council challenges you to hike 200 miles on natural surface hiking trails throughout Indiana! The time period begins on January 1, 2016 and will last through June 30, 2017.
