Walton Lake Campground is not expected to open to the public this year until mid-summer pending completion of forest health treatments. The Walton Lake Restoration Project proposes to manage the forest vegetation around the lake to improve forest health and public safety. Specifically, the project will remove root diseased trees and trees that are susceptible to disease, thin crowded timber stands, and reforest 35 acres of forest where the removal of root disease trees occurs. Campsite reservations on www.recreation.gov are currently closed until the Forest knows when the work will occur and can be completed. The National Forest apologizes for any inconvenience.
Help keep our wildlands safe. Leave fireworks and exploding targets at home. Remember: possessing, discharging, or using any kind of firework or other pyrotechnic device on public lands is illegal at any time of the year (prohibition order)
