What types of recreation passes are available and how do I decide?
To help you choose a pass, think about how often and where you go for recreational opportunities. By answering the following questions, we hope to help you find the best pass to meet your needs.
- Are you at least 62 or do you have a disability?
- Are you a frequent visitor to National Forest Lands in Oregon and Washington?
- Do you visit federal lands across the United States?
- Do you visit only a few times per year?
#1: Are you at least 62 or do you have a disability?
If NO, please go to Question 2.
If YES, you may qualify for an Interagency Senior or Access Pass.
The following are all separete federal government agencies that offer recreation opportunities:
Interagency Senior and Access Passes cover most day use fees (except some concessionaire-run sites) and most entrance fees for ALL the above federal agencies across the United States.
If you are 62 or older, consider purchasing a $80 Interagency Senior Pass.

- Best for people 62 or older.

If you have a permanent disability, you may be eligible for a free Interagency Access Pass.

- Best for people with permanent disabilities.

#2: Are you a frequent visitor to National Forest Lands in Oregon and Washington?
For example, you typically visit the Deschutes National Forest AND the Mt. Hood National Forest.
If NO, please go to Question 4.
If YES, consider purchasing an Annual Northwest Forest Pass.
The Annual Northwest Forest Pass covers most day use fees (except some concessionaire-run sites) on National Forests in Oregon and Washington. If you tend to visit often at these Forest Service sites, you would benefit by obtaining the Annual Northwest Forest Pass.

#3. Do you visit federal lands across the United States?
For example: You visit many National Forests AND National Parks.
If NO, please go to Question 4.
If YES, consider purchasing an Interagency Annual Pass.

#4: Do you visit only a few times per year?
For example, you typically visit recreation sites one to five times a year where day use sites are charged. The Forest Service offers several pass options that may save you money if you only visit a few times during a year.

Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument Day Pass

- Best for Mount St. Helens visitors coming from the west (I-5).

- Honored at Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument only. Open season at Johnston Ridge is mid-May through October.

$10 / 5 days or $35 / year
- Best for visitors of State and Federal fees sites along the Oregon Coast

- Honored at all State and Federal fee sites (day use, entry, and vehicle parking) along the entire Oregon Coast.
