Planning Rule
The Under Secretary of Agriculture for Natural Resources and Environment signed the 2012 planning rule for land management planning for the National Forest System on May 9, 2012.
Plan Revision
Forest plans for national forests in Arizona and New Mexico were developed in the mid to late 1980s under the 1982 Planning Rule and most plans have not been revised since then; however, significant amendments have occurred. Six Southwestern Region national forests and grasslands are currently revising their forest plans under the 1982 rule provisions.
