Districts
The Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest is divided up into districts that are managed by a supervisor's office that spread across north-central Utah and a small slice of southwest Wyoming. The forests have eight districts that manage the national forest on smaller levels. Each is unique and often reflects the character of nearby communities -- from the heavily visited Tri-Canyons of the Salt Lake Ranger District to the rugged Mountain View District, the remote northern gateway to Kings Peak (13,584'), the highest point in Utah. Districts typically manage recreation facilities and activities, handle special permits, and sponsor interpretive education programs. Stop by a district or visitor center to load up on maps, get acquainted with recreation opportunities, check on current conditions, and learn more about how to keep the Forest healthy.
