Grizzly Campground Upcoming Closure

Construction work to begin May 12

Missoula, Montana, May 9, 2025— The opening of the Grizzly Campground on the Missoula Ranger District, Lolo National Forest, will be delayed for the 2025 summer season to replace and expand the current water system within the site. It is anticipated that the site will remain closed until work the work is completed mid-summer. 

The Grizzly Campground is located in the Ranch Creek drainage east of Rock Creek. The water system has been experiencing maintenance issues and has not been functional for the last several years. The improved water system will provide reliable and safe water for campers visiting the site.

This project is funded by the Great American Outdoors Act.

“We are excited to have the funding available through the Great American Outdoors Act to conduct this project and provide drinking water for visitors to the Grizzly Campground for years to come,” said Katie Knotek, Recreation Program Manager, Lolo National Forest.

Forest Closure Order, 25-002-Lolo-D3, will be in effect for the Grizzly Campground starting May 12.
