Savenac Historic Tree Nursery Area Upcoming Closure
Construction work to begin at Savenac in June 2025
Superior, Montana, May 05, 2025—The Savenac Historic Tree Nursery on the Lolo National Forest will close on June 1, 2025, to replace the water and sewer systems for the entire site. It is anticipated that the site will remain closed until September 30, 2025.
Gates will be installed to prevent visitors from accessing the site, this includes any foot traffic. The Visitor Center and Self-Guided Tours will not be available this summer.
The Savenac Historic Tree Nursery is one of the oldest Forest Service nurseries in the west with an interesting past and is presently a popular recreation destination for visitors. Due to its popularity, these updates to the outdated water and sewer systems have become a necessity.
This project is funded by the Great American Outdoors Act.
Forest Closure Order, 24-001-Lolo D7, will be in effect for the entirety of the Savenac Historic Tree Nursery for public and contractor safety starting June 1, 2025.
