Turtle Mountain Trail #219
Turtle Mountain Trail #219 offers a primitively maintained route for approximately 2.2 miles. This is where the trail ends and despite what some maps may indicate, there is no maintenance or established trail to the summit of Monte Vista Peak. The Turtle Mountain Trail is exceptionally steep and at times you may find yourself feeling that its name comes as much from the pace one is able to set in traveling it as it derives from the shape of nearby Turtle Mountain.
DISTANCE: Approximately 2 miles one way. Recommended as an out and back trail from Forest Service Road 2422.
