ALAMOGORDO, August 20, 2025— The Lincoln National Forest has placed a closure Order for the Bluff Springs Recreational Area located on the Sacramento Ranger District. This Order serves to protect public health and safety while Forest Service Engineering crews carry out annual maintenance, restoration and update infrastructure to current safety standards.

This order is in effect from August 20, 2025, at 8:00 a.m. until December 31, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. or until it is rescinded, whichever occurs first.

Closed Areas Include:

  • Bluff Springs Recreational Site and T112 Bridge: This includes the Bluff Springs Recreational Area designated parking lot, vault toilet restrooms and trail 112 (Willie White Spur) bridge.

Our team will be working on two main features of the recreational area including the main bridge crossing and the parking lot. This work will directly result in improved access, public safety, and recreational enjoyment for our visitors.

Alternate Access to Bluff Springs

The Willie White Trail T113, just east of Bluff Springs, remains open. This trail runs west into the Willie White Spur T112 and takes you directly to the springs (See Attached Map). Day use access from this alternative route remains open to our visitors.

Use of the T112 Bridge is no longer allowed, and although Bluff Springs remains accessible for day use, dispersed camping remains restricted in this area.  For the full closure Order please visit our website’s Alerts and Closure page: https://www.fs.usda.gov/r03/lincoln/alerts
