Astoria Boating Site

Astoria Boat Ramp is the first boat ramp south of Hoback Junction that is available for boat launching. This boat ramp is primitive in design and is primarily used by visitors looking for scenic floating and fishing opportunities. It is generally a quieter boat ramp and provides a great option for putting in on the scenic stretch of the Snake River.

General Information

Day use only - no camping allowed.

River permits are required for all groups over 15 and for instituational types of groups floating the Snake River between Hoback Junction and Alpine, WY.  Permits are also required for anyone operating a business on the Forest.  See our river permits section for more information.

No Fees are required for this site.

The Snake River boat ramps are currently fee free thanks to generous donations through the Snake River Fund.

Directions

Starting from the Town of Jackson, Wyoming, head southwest on United States Highway 189 (US-189) for about 13 miles. At the roundabout in Hoback Junction, take the first exit to proceed on US-26 East (US-89 South) for 3 miles, where you will see signage for Astoria Boating Site on the left.
