Big Notch Trailhead
The Big Notch Trailhead marks the starting point for the Dark Canyon East Trail, a 4.8 mile trail that takes you through a rugged canyon on the east side of the Dark Canyon Wilderness and connects to Horse Pasture Canyon.

Directions
From the intersection of Main and Center Streets in Blanding, Utah, head west on Center St. for about 0.4 miles to 400 West. Head north on 400 West and continue for about 0.52 miles. At Brushy Basin Road, head west again and continue for about 11.4 miles. The road becomes County Road (CR) 268. After 11.4 miles, merge onto CR 228, also known as South Elks Road. Continue on CR 228 for about 7 miles until you come to the Manti-La Sal National Forest boundary. The road becomes Forest Road (FR) 0092. Continue west on FR 0092 for about 10.5 miles. Merge onto FR 0088/Elk Ridge Road and continue for about 7.6 more miles. The Big Notch Trailhead (TH) dirt parking areas will be on both sides of the road.
