Mesa Fire Salvage and Reforestation Project
The Mesa fire burned 16,560 acres of USFS managed lands. High burn severity was observed primarily within the Cottonwood Creek drainage. Salvage harvest is proposed on 236 acres, including 20 acres of harvest proposed within the outer half of RCAs.

The Mesa fire was human caused on July 26th, 2018 along Highway 95 four miles south of Council, Idaho. It burned 16,560 acres on the Council RD of the Payette NF. Cottonwood Creek is where salvage is.

Salvage harvest will be primarily along two Forest Roads. The 199 road on the west side of T16N R1E S32 and continues to junction with Forest Road 200 in the east side of T16N R1E S4 to center of S27.
