Bear Pete Ridge Trail #142
The Bear Pete Ridge Trail is a 16.1 mile trail that connects the North Fork Meadows area with French Creek Road. On the south end, the trail leaves from Forest Road 260 in North Fork Meadows and briefly follows Forest Road 492 near Cloochman Saddle before continuing north. The trail passes scenic Josephine Lake (7160'), Frosty Meadows, and the spur trail to Bear Pete Mountain (8751'). North access is from the Bear Pete Trailhead along French Creek Road where the trail elevation is 6325'. The trail is open to the following uses: Hiking, Horseback Riding, Motorcycle Trail Riding
Directions:
South trailhead: Travel north from McCall on Warren Wagon Road for 21 miles. Turn left onto FS 260 and travel to the end. Alternatively, continue on Warren Wagon Road another 1.5 miles to FS 492. The trail crosses the road near its end and leaves again to the north.
From French Creek Road: Travel north from McCall on Warren Wagon Road for 30 miles to the Burgdorf junction. Turn left onto the Burgdorf-French Creek Road and continue 10 miles north to the Bear Pete Trailhead. The trail leaves the road to the south.
