Mt. Hough - South Park Proposed Trail System

The Mt. Hough Ranger District proposes to incorporate some of the existing non-motorized trails in the South Park area and motorized trails in the Mt. Hough area into the National Forest System trail network. This would include reconstruction of existing trails as well as new trail construction. Existing trails causing resource damage or concerns would be re-routed or excluded from the NFS trail network. Proposed for inclusion are 16.6 miles of non-motorized trails and 35 miles of motorized trails (21.4 miles of singletrack, 11 miles of quad trails, and 2.6 miles open to all vehicles). Four trailheads would be designated. The South Park trailhead would be developed and would accommodate trucks towing trailers. The area along NFS road 25N48X to the Cascade Trailhead would become a day use area, eliminating dispersed camping and a restroom would be installed. Herbicide would be used to control the spread of invasive plants. Routes would be improved or obliterated to reduce erosion.
