Falls Picnic Area

Falls Picnic Area is located in a pine/cedar forest just above the community of Forest Falls.  Forest Falls is one of the key gateways to the Sand to Snow National Monument and home to the original trail into the San Gorgonio Wilderness.Vivian Creek Trail to the San Gorgonio Wilderness starts here, and the Momyer Trailhead is nearby. Wilderness permits are required. Permits are ONLY avaliable online via SGWA.org

Water, picnic tables and vault toilets are available.  There are times of year where No wood fires, charcoal bbqs or charcoal stove are allowed, call the Mill Creek Visitor Center for current fire restrictions. Gas or propane BBQ's/stoves are allowed with a valid California Campfire Permit.

On busy summer weekends when parking is at capacity this site will close! There is NO parking available along Valley of the Falls drive, or the entrance of the picnic area. Visiors will have to park at Momyer Trailhead and hike up to the picnic area. Please use EXTREME caution when hiking along the road.

Black Bears frequent this picnic area!! DO NOT leave food or garbage unattended! PACK IT IN PACK IT OUT!

Current Conditions
3/15/2025, wood/charcoal fires or barbecues are allowed in Forest Service provided rings/grills. Gas/Propane appliances are permitted with a valid CA Campfire permit. NOT PERMITTED: ground fires or building of rock-fire-rings anywhere on Southern CA Forests.

Day use only: Sun up to sun down

  • No ground fires or building of rock-fire-rings permitted anywhere on Southern CA Forests!
  • No wood fires, charcoal bbqs or charcoal stove allowed near the creek itself
  • Dogs MUST be on a leash not longer than six feet, or otherwise under physical restrictive control. [36 CFR 261.16(j)]
  • No loud music or generators [36 CFR 261.10(I)]
  • NO overnight Camping Permitted due to Forest Order 05-12-00-23-05 OCCUPANCY AND USE

Adventure Pass
