Garnet Fire Closure Order
The Sierra National Forest implemented a partial closure on August 28, 2025, in response to the full suppression effort on the Garnet Fire. The partial closure order was coordinated with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, along with multiple local, state and federal agency cooperators, to identify the minimum area necessary for the safety of firefighting resources and forest visitors.
The closure starts at the intersection of Trimmer Springs Road, continuing north along Big Creek Forest Road 10S69, and then up to the intersection with Dinkey Creek Road. It also includes the McKinley Grove Road at Camp Fresno to the north, and areas with no public access to Courtright, Wishon or east to the trailheads to the John Muir Wilderness and beyond, to the south.
