Forest Order 06-22-01-24-03: Developed Recreation Site – Aircraft Closure
Starting July 22, 2024, and continuing through July 15, 2026 (unless lifted earlier), there are temporary rules in place that prohibit the use of aircraft, including drones, at specific developed sites on National Forest lands in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area.
What’s Not Allowed:
• Landing aircraft (including helicopters and drones), or
• Dropping off or picking up people, supplies, or equipment using any type of aircraft.
Important Note:
The term “aircraft” includes drones (also called Unmanned Aircraft Systems or UAS), as defined by federal law.
Where This Applies:
This rule applies to four specific developed recreation sites located on National Forest lands in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, within:
• Hood River County and Multnomah County, Oregon
• Klickitat County and Skamania County, Washington
