Oregon Mine Campground

Adjacent to Murderer's Creek, this little campground is a great base camp for hunters.  The campground is a nice area for those wishing to horse camp, a buck and pole corral is located adjacent to the campground.  Visitors to the campground can enjoy bird watching, hunting and fishing in near by creeks.  Hikers have options in the Cedar Grove Botanical area and Fields Peak trail.  Visitors may get the opportunity to see one of the beautiful wild horses that reside in the area.

Current Conditions
Visitors should be prepared for rapidly changing weather conditions. Pack it in/Pack it out. Anything take home anything you bring with you into the forest, including all trash. Examples of trash: cigarette butts, cans, bottles, and food.

Check in: 2:00 p.m.; Check-out: 12:00 p.m.; Quiet hours are 10:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.

Do not pasture horses in riparian area. Please use certified weed free hay and take what you do not use home.

Directions

From John Day, OR., travel approximatley 18 miles west on US Highway 26 to the junction of Forest Service Road 21.  Travel south on Forest Service Road 21 for approximately 12 to the junction with Forest Service Road 2170. Travel west on Forest Service Road 2170 to Oregon Mine Forest Camp.
