Crane Creek Trail #5024

This multiple use trail is the road bed of the historic Dalles Military Road. Visitors to the area can enjoy beautiful scenary, wildlife viewing throughout the year and wildflower viewing in the spring and early summer.

Visitors should be prepared for rapidly changing weather conditions. Please remember that if you pack it in, please pack it out with you. This trail travels through the area of the Black Butte Fire of 2021. Please use caution while hiking, backpacking, and trail riding in the area. You may come across fallen trees, overgrown sections of trail, lack of shade, fire weakened trees, and landslides.

Directions

From Prairie City, OR., turn south Main Street, follow to the junction with Bridge Street. Turn left onto Bridge Street and follow past the cemetary. The road then becomes County Road 62, continue on County Road 62 for approximately 20 miles to the junction with Forest Service Road 16. Turn east onto Forest Service Road 16, follow Forest Service Road 16 approximately 3 miles to the junction with Forest Service Road 1663. Follow 1663 for approximately 1 mile to the junction with Forest Service Road 809, follow Forest Service Road 809 to the trailhad.
