National Forest System Roads


Pursuant to I 6 USC § 551 and 36 CFR § 261.50 (b), the following acts are prohibited upon National Forest System
(NFS) Roads in the Pacific Ranger District within the Olympic National Forest as described below and shown in
Exhibit A. This Order is effective beginning September 7, 2024, through September 30, 2026, or until rescinded.
 

PROHIBITION:
Using any type of vehicle prohibited by this order. [36 CFR § 261.54 (a)]
This order prohibits all motorized equipment and motor vehicle use in the closure area year round
(subject to exceptions described below). The closure area consists of National Forest System
(NFS) Road, (see Exhibit A)

  • 2900-000 (A-road) from,
    • MP 23.8 - 24.0 (at washout)
    • MP 33.8 - 33.9 (at washout)
  • 2900-070 MP 0.1 - 0.2 (Sitkum gorge bridge)

EXEMPTIONS:
Pursuant to 36 CFR § 261.50(a), the following persons are exempt from this order:

  1. Persons with Forest Service Permit No. FS-7700-48 (Permit for Use of
    Roads, Trails, or Areas Restricted by Regulation Order), specifically
    exempting them from this order.
  2. Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of any organized rescue or fire fighting force
    in the performance of an official duty.


This prohibition is in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 C.F.R. Pmt 261, Subpa1t A.
Violations of this prohibition are punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or
$10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than 6 months, or both (16 USC § 551; 18
USC§ 3551, 3559, 3571, and 3581).
