This order supersedes Order No. 06-14-00-21-06 by Forest Supervisor Eric Watrud, Order No. 06-16-00-21-05 by Acting Forest Supervisor Anthony Botello, and Order No. 06-04-00-21-08 by Forest Supervisor Craig Trulock, set to expire on July 20, 2023.
Pursuant to 16 USC§ 551 and 36 CFR § 261.50(a) and (b), the following act is prohibited within the boundaries of the Umatilla, Wallowa-Whitman, and Malheur National Forests. The order will be effective on July 20, 2023 and will remain in force until July 20, 2026, unless rescinded sooner.
PROHIBITION: Camping on the Umatilla, Wallowa-Whitman, and Malheur National Forests for a period longer than 14 days within any 30-day period. 36 CFR § 261.58(a)
RESTRICTED AREA: All National Forest System lands within the Umatilla, Wallowa-Whitman, and Malheur National Forests. (See Exhibit A)
EXEMPTIONS: Pursuant to 36 CFR § 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this order: 1. Persons with Forest Service Permit No. FS-7700-48 (Permit for Use of Roads, Trails, or Areas Restricted by Regulation or Order) specifically authorizing the otherwise prohibited act or omission. 2. Any Federal, State, or local officer or member of an organized emergency services entity in the performance of an official duty. 3. Forest Service employees in the performance of their official duties.
Violation of these prohibitions is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than 6 months, or both. 16 U.S. C. § 551 and 18 U.S. C. §§, 3571, and 3581
