Miller Creek Lake Recreation Area

Miller Creek Lake Recreation Area is a great place for family activities. This 17-acre lake was originally constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. It was aquired by the U.S. Forest Service in 1998 in a joint partnership with the Jones County Georgia Board of Commissioners, Georgia DNR. The area incompasses approximately 30 acres and the average depth of the lake is 30 feet.

Fishing, boating, hiking, picniking and wildlife viewing are some of the most common activities. This is the site of the Miller Creek Lake Annual Fishing Rodeo (scheduled for May 3, 2025, 8-12 p.m.). This popular event averages 300 to 400 participants. The lake is stocked twice a year with catfish, bass and bream. There are picnic tables with grillls available for small gatherings and a pavilion with six tables is available for larger gatherings such as weddings and birthday parties.
