Visitor Maps and Guides

Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest Visitor Maps are available online and in print. If you would like printed copies of our Forest Visitor Maps, they are available for sale from our local offices and online.

Use the Interactive Forest Visitor Map to locate roads, campgrounds, trails and other recreation sites on the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forests. You can zoom in for high resolution detail and change the background map to suit your needs. Using the Tools icon, you can print your map or save it as a Geo PDF map. You can also import your Geo PDF to your phone or tablet using a program like Avenza to show your live location on the map - even without a cell signal! 

MVUM show the National Forest System roads, National Forest System trails, and the areas on National Forest System lands in the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest that are designated for motor vehicle use pursuant to 36 CFR 212.51. These maps also note the types of vehicles that are allowed on each route or in each area as well as any seasonal restrictions that apply on those routes and in those areas.

Designation of a road, trail, or area for motor vehicle use by a particular class of vehicle under 36 CFR 212.51 should not be interpreted as encouraging or inviting use, or to imply that the road, trail or area is passable, actively maintained, or safe for travel.

There are four, large (44x34 inches) maps - one for each Ranger District.

There are 10 wilderness areas, all located on the Chattahoochee National Forest, as established by United States Congress. The information below is provided via Wilderness.net, a partnership project of the Wilderness Institute at The University of Montana's College of Forestry and Conservation, the Arthur Carhart National Wilderness Training Center, and the Aldo Leopold Wilderness Research Institute.

USGS Topographic Maps overlay U.S. Forest Service roads, trails and campgrounds on U.S. Geological Survey topographic maps. They are available for download by quadrangle as geo-referenced PDFs. This means they can be used with an app like Avenza to show your live location on the map using your mobile device's built-in GPS.

The USDA Forest Service Geodata Clearinghouse is an online collection of digital data related to forest resources. Through the Clearinghouse you can find datasets related to forests and grasslands, including boundaries and ownership, natural resources, roads and trails, as well as datasets related to State and private forested areas, including insect and disease threat and surface water importance. You can also find downloadable map products, raster data, and links to other sources of forest resource information.

The National Forest System Land Ownership & Boundary Information is an online map product shows Forest Service Land Status Record System (LSRS) data. The LSRS data published via this map product is considered to be the authoritative source for Forest Service ownership. The data is designed to provide land status information necessary to manage National Forest System lands and national resources.
