Forest Events 2026
The Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest invites families to the annual Kids Fishing Rodeo at Cooper Creek Campground and Recreation Area. This free event, open to all kids age 15 and under, is designed to introduce youth to fishing, aquatic ecosystems and outdoor recreation in a fun and supportive environment. Bring your fishing gear and bait!
Date: Saturday, June 6, 2026
Time: 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Location: Cooper Creek Campground and Recreation Area, Blue Ridge Ranger District
Participants will have the opportunity to enjoy:
- Trout fishing
- Snorkeling
- Please fill out the Snorkeling Liability Waiver
- Snorkeling Program Quick Information
- Lunch provided
This event is geared toward youth of all experience levels, including those fishing for the first time.
Registration:
Advance registration is encouraged, but staff will have registration forms available the morning of the event if you are unable to preregister. A parent or legal guardian must complete this registration form and liability/photo release for each participant prior to the event.

BRRD Fishing Rodeo
The Conasauga Ranger District will host their Kids' Fishing Day on Saturday, May 16th, 2026, 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Kids aged 15 years and under are welcome to participate at Rock Creek.
Bring a fishing rod and bait!
Directions:
- From US Highway 411 in Chatsworth, go east on Georgia Highway 52 toward Fort Mountain.
- In 0.8 miles, take a right on Old Federal Road.
- In 3.8 miles, take a left on Peeples Lake Road, which will turn into gravel after the first 1/2 mile.
- In 2.3 miles at the first intersection, bear left and follow the signs. Proceed on this road for approximately 3.5 miles.
Restroom facilities are provided.

Take U.S. 76 west from Clayton for 8 miles; turn right (north) Persimmon Rd. (a paved county road) for 5 miles; turn left (northwest) on Forest Service Road 70 for 1 mile to Tallulah River (another 3 miles to reach Tate Branch and another 5 miles to Sandy Bottom
