Turkey Fork

Turkey Fork is a popular recreation destination offering premier fishing, camping, picnicking and watersports activities, such as swimming and water skiing. It has two developed campgrounds, a boat ramp and floating dock, two swimming areas, three bathhouses and a 240-acre lake stocked with bass, crappie and bluegill.   

Turkey Fork's 20 RV campsites have picnic tables, grills, water and electrical hookups. A dump station is located within the campground loop. Day use visitors will find secluded picnicking sites located near the beach. A .75-mile hiking trail connects the day use area to the camping area.

6 a.m. to 10 p.m. for boat launch.

Passes can only be purchased at National Forests in Mississippi Ranger District Offices.

Overnight Use:
Single Site: $7 per night
Single Site with electric hook-up: $20 per night
Day Use:
$5 per vehicle per day
Group Site: $40 per day

Entrance Fees:
$5 per vehicle, per day.
Over 6 people, add $1 per person.
Covers day-use, picnic area, and boat launch.  
Use new fee machine.

Campground Fees:
$20 per campsite, per night at the full service camping area.
$7 per campsite, per night at the tent camping area.
Covers use of all other areas.
Use new fee machine.

Directions

Turkey Fork Recreation Area is located approximately 40 miles from Hattiesburg, MS, 44 miles from Laurel, MS, and 75 miles from Mobile, Alabama.

From Hattiesburg, MS, travel east on U.S. Hwy. 42 approximately 21 miles to Richton.  From Richton, continue east on Hwy. 42 approximately 12 miles to Sandhill. Follow the signs from Sandhill.

From Laurel, MS, travel south on Hwy. 15 approximately 27 miles to Richton. Turn left onto U.S. Hwy 42 and follow the above directions from Richton to Turkey Fork.

From Mobile, Alabama, drive approximately 55 miles on U.S. Hwy. 45 North to the MS-AL state lines and travel west on Hwy. 42 for 19 miles to Turkey Fork Road. Turn left (south) and travel two miles to Turkey Fork Recreation Area.
