Rufus Morgan Falls TR27

Rufus Morgan Falls is a 60 foot sliding cascade waterfall located in the Nantahala Ranger District west of Franklin.  Named after Albert Rufus Morgan, a pioneer in helping create the Appalachian Trail.  The falls is located in the middle of the trail loop, so you can hike there and back or make a loop.

.5 mile one way; loop is 1 mile.

Getting There

Directions

Take US 64 West from Franklin for 3.7 miles. Turn right on Old Murphy Rd, go 0.1 mi, and then turn left on Wayah Rd (SR 1310). Go 6.3 miles and turn left on FS 388 (Boardtree), which is gravel. Go 2 miles to the parking area on the right, which is signed.  Be aware FS 388 is closed seasonally from December 31-April 1.
