Summer hours, entrance fees to begin at Southeast Alaska Discovery Center

KETCHIKAN, Alaska, April 28, 2025 — The Southeast Alaska Discovery Center will be open seven days per week starting May 1, as summer hours and fees go into effect. Summer hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the entrance fee is just $5 per person.
Locals can buy a Discovery Center season pass for $15. This bargain gets the cardholder and two others unlimited visits from May 1 through Sept. 30. Other ways to access the 20,000 square foot Alaska Public Lands Information Center can be purchased through any uniformed staff:
o Annual Pass - $80
o Interagency Lifetime Senior Pass: $80
o Interagency Annual Senior Pass: $20
o Annual Pass for U.S. Military – Free
o Lifetime Gold Star & Veteran - Free
o Interagency Access Pass: Free.
Visitors can explore the fascinating ecology of the coastal rainforest, connect with the rich cultures of the region's native peoples, discover the abundant resources of Alaska’s public lands, and experience Alaska's rainforest from the comfort of the 200-seat theatre through a variety of award-winning films. Ranger-led tours, map talks, and interpretive presentations are also provided.
