Rocks, ice, and mountains are an iconic part of the Tongass landscape and present adventurous opportunities for climbing and mountaineering. Many mountains in Southeast Alaska do not have trails and should not be undertaken lightly. Be prepared and carry maps and compass/GPS when traveling in remote locations.
